Frequently asked questions.

What is Cypress Hybrid Academy?

The Hybrid Academy will launch in September 2026 and run throughout the 2026–2027 school year, offering families a thoughtfully balanced approach to education. Students will gather for full instructional days twice a week—on Tuesdays and Thursdays—creating a consistent rhythm of in-person learning and at-home reinforcement.

Our academy is staffed by dedicated, paid teachers who are thoroughly trained in our Charlotte Mason–Classical philosophy. This approach emphasizes rich literature, meaningful discussion, strong habits of attention, and the development of wisdom and character alongside academic excellence. Each school day is intentionally designed to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.

The hybrid model allows families to remain actively engaged in their child’s education while benefiting from the guidance, accountability, and expertise of experienced educators. Students will experience a supportive classroom community, thoughtful instruction across core subjects, and a cohesive educational vision that connects home and school.

Are you a school?

No, Cypress is not a state-recognized or reporting school in Ohio.

We operate as a nonprofit organization within the state. Students who attend Cypress are registered by their parents as homeschooled students in accordance with Ohio law.

Cypress functions as a learning center that supports homeschool families in Wayne County and the surrounding areas by providing supplemental, classical education.

Are you a Homeschool Co-op?

No, we are not a co-op.

Our program provides structured instruction two days a week led by qualified academy teachers.

In contrast, a co-op is typically a group of homeschool families who meet regularly for social and educational activities, with classes taught by parent volunteers as part of a shared effort.

Our approach is different—we offer consistent, teacher-led instruction rather than volunteer-based teaching, giving families both flexibility and professional academic support.

When does Cypress meet?

The Hybrid Academy will begin September 1, 2026 and will meet weekly on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am - 2:45pm for the 2026/2027 school year (Sep.-May).

Start and end times are not final and subject to change.

Where are you located?

We are located in Wooster, OH. We operate out of Oaks Church, 1859 Burbank Rd, Wooster, OH 44691

Why do you not offer a Pre-K class?

Charlotte Mason believed that early childhood should be protected—a time rich in natural curiosity, wonder, and play. We seek to honor that belief while also intentionally building into each child a strong foundation for future learning. Our Saplings Early Education Program welcomes children beginning at age 4 (by the first day of school). Placement within the Saplings program is determined through a brief assessment, ensuring each child is thoughtfully placed in a class that best supports their unique stage of growth and development.
